As far as marketing terms, Kangen is quite good at making their products sound as though they produce something different when compared to similar systems. The word “Kangen” is Japanese and means “return to origin”. The impression given with this term is that water filtered by the Kangen system will return it to its original state.

In reality, when water is processed through the Kangen units, it goes through the exact same process as any other competing unit. The end result is alkaline water and acidic water.
